Side Effects: Lung

Early side effects from radiosurgery or SBRT may occur early during or after treatment, and are typically gone within a few weeks. Late side effects can occur months or years later; some may require intervention. Discuss your specific case with your physician/s to fully understand the potential risks associated with your treatment regimen.


Side effects may include:


  • Fatigue
  • Radiation pneumonitis
  • Radiation fibrosis
  • Complications (e.g., pneumothorax) due to fiducial marker insertion
  • Rib pain and/or fracture
  • Injury to airways / nearby tissue
