Patient Forum

The CyberKnife Patient Forum is designed to provide a place for people who have been diagnosed with cancer, their family and friends, to exchange useful information and provide support to one another. The Forum may also help people find answers to questions they have about the CyberKnife treatment experience. Accuray strives to facilitate these exchanges and encourage discussions. Recently we have experienced some aggressive or inappropriate spam postings. We are diligently working to resolve this issue and thank you in advance for your patience.

It provides excellent local control and therefore prevents pain and obstruction, which increased the quality of life

Local control and overall control are two different things. Local control means the treated tumor is taken care of. This can prevent a very painful problem, as well as prevent the tumor blocking the small intestine or the bile duct, either of which can require surgery. Overall control would mean that there was never any more tumor. Unfortunately, that rarely occurs with pancreatic cancer. Local control is very valuable because of the greatly improved quality of life it can provide.
