Dear Doctors, I've heard some very promising news regarding Beta Glucan used as a tumor fighting source. Only the 1,3 and 1,6 linkages have been proven to bind/dock with the CR3 immune system receptors that activate the tumoricidal (literally, "tumor-killing") activities of the innate cells of the immune system, specifically macrophages, neutrophils, and natural killer cells. Have any of you heard about this and should my father (future patient of Cyberknife) discontinue any vitamins including Beta Glucan during Cyberknife treatment as it may interfere with radiation? Please advise when your time permits. Thank you, Stephanie

That sort of thing is always highly speculative and rarely works out to be of clinical use. I would stop it during the treatment, since it has not been show to be helpful in this situation of CK treatment and since we don't know if there could be any adverse effects.
