Patient Forum

The CyberKnife Patient Forum is designed to provide a place for people who have been diagnosed with cancer, their family and friends, to exchange useful information and provide support to one another. The Forum may also help people find answers to questions they have about the CyberKnife treatment experience. Accuray strives to facilitate these exchanges and encourage discussions. Recently we have experienced some aggressive or inappropriate spam postings. We are diligently working to resolve this issue and thank you in advance for your patience.

My husband has been told by doctors in the Kansas City area that he is a good candidate for Cyberknife. He has had pancreatic cancer since January of 2010, had Whipple surgery, radiation, and chemo. He has had metastases to his liver that were ablated and now has two more tumors in his liver. One near the hepatic vein making it very dangerous to resect. Our attempt to get pre-authorization from Blue Cross/Blue Shield told us that it was not covered as it is considered experimental. We will appeal but I wanted to know if anyone has had any luck with appeals. Thank you for any light that can be shed on this. MJ
